WINNER      Winner - Just A Cluster These we call "surprise lilies" due to the fact that the foliage grows in the early spring, dies, and then in August, the bulbs push up these lovely blossoms. They are always a welcome sight for by that time most of the other lilies are pa ......      Winner - Daisies and Sky Taken a couple of months ago when the dasies were in full bloom. Early morning sky for background and natural light. Some ps work attempting to lighten the centers, and the yellow ring is all I accomplished. So I thought, well, that's o.k. too. ......      Winner - Giant Lily These water lilies were the largest I've ever seen, standing up on strong stems. The colors were exquisite and they were in the Japanese garden area of the Btanical Garden of the city of Norfolk Va. That is a lovely place! ......      Winner - Four Trumpets Honeysuckle blossoms from my yard, taken last summer. They bloomed all summer, and kept the air fragrant with their perfume. Simple frame made in ps. Cropping and levels only used. ......      Winner - Little Trumpets Honeysuckle perfumes the air around the yard when they first start blooming! ......   SECOND PLACE      Second Place - crocus I found two together, and placed a black fabric behind them for contrast. These are blooming big time now at my house! Was a sunny day. ......      Second Place - Small stream Caught this photo of a stream in Georgia, after a bit of a hike. Taken at the beginning of autumn so a few colorful leaves were around. Sl. slow shutter speed, and tripod used. ......      Second Place - The Choir Lilies have some dramatic colors this year. Taken with natural light, heavily cropped, and sharpened. ......      Second Place - THE CENTER Water lily...lotus lily?? center! I do not know the name of this water lily, but the centers were interestening and colorful. Taken in bright sunlight. ......      Second Place - Poppy's Center This poppy is such a brillant color, just had to do a close-up of the center! Daylight, diffuse light. ......      Second Place - Trees Pictures...."are made by fools like me, but only God can make a tree...." One morning at the city pond, fog just rolling out. Cropped and color desaturated a little. ......      Second Place - Spidery This is one of the flowers blooming in my flower bed right now. Taken outside, natural light, and placed a swath of green felt around it. The stem is hidden by the blossom. Small amount of ps work to smooth a couple of rough places in the fabric, ......      Second Place - Yellow surrounded by Green The tulips have been lovely this year. Simple corrections in ps. ......   THIRD PLACE      Third Place - Spring Is Blooming! Early crocus are pushing up and showing their faces to the sun already in my part of the world. These are the earliest, smallest ones. Mostly cropping here. ......      Third Place - A Lovely Lady Taken on a sunny day, did very little post-processing other than to crop, sl. darkening of some of the brighter leaves, and sl. enhancement of color. Did have to work out one small area of bright sunlight on the wing. ......      Third Place - I'm Watching YOU This wasp was carried into the house on clothes I was drying on the line. The birds would land nearby in this large enclosure, and quite a variety of birds there was. Although I felt poorly for the birds being canged in a large enclosure, I still could have been happy spending hours t ......      Third Place - Light and Delicate One of the daylilies growing in my backyard. I used a white diffuser for the background. Cropped, levels and after shrinking had to sharpen one level. Framing in ps. IS SHARPER IN LARGER VIEW! ......      Third Place - About To Take Off This columbine reminds me of a duck, goose, or other water bird stepping on the water, flapping wings, and taking off from the lake. I used a white fabric background with a slit for the stem, taken outside, overcast day. Macro setting on camera. ......      Third Place - White On White These daffodils remind me of ruffled skirts with fluffy underskirts. This blossom I cut from the yard and placed in a window for photo, so as to obtain some back-lighting. I used a white cloth behind for background. Some simple ps changes, cropped ......      Third Place - Reflections One of my favorite after dinner drinks! Coffee and a little Bailey's can give hours of reflective thoughts! ......      Third Place - At Season's End This plant kept blooming even after some frosts. Took a hard freeze to stop the blossoms! I used the unsharp mask, cropped and adjusted the backlighting in ps. ......      Third Place - The Eyes Have Center Stage This was taken in a butterfly house near Niagara, NY, a couple of months ago. The butterflies there are lovely but I ended up feeling sorry for them because they were unable to fly outside. This fellow sat for just a few seconds for a photo. ......      Third Place - Niagara Falls and Mist A recent trip to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls captured this angle. The afternoon was partly cloudy and the mist heavy. Color enhanced and filtered before posting. ......      Third Place - Five Trumpets Late blooming honeysuckle graces my yard still. ......      Third Place - Honeysuckle Wild and fragrant! ......   HONORABLE      Honorable - Spring Bug Here is a little fellow I found crawling on a towel in the garage. Not sure what he's called, but the color red usually means, "I'm not to be touched!" I see these fellows in the early spring and sometimes the autumn. ......      Honorable - Just Popping Open This is one of the earliest blossoms in my part of the world. They had buds ready and waiting for the coldest weather to pass, and here is the center of one of the little "bells" just opening up. ......      Honorable - Awaiting Here are some cocoons or the pupa stage of the development of the moths and butterfly. These were the most colorful that were waiting to hatch at the butterfly garden. Was so nice to stop into a butterfly garden in the middle of winter! Photo take ......      Honorable - Just Around the Corner Here we have a butterfly just peeping out. Taken in a butterfly house around mid-day. Natural light, and small amount of tweeking done in ps. Mostly resizeing, as the butterfly allowed me to get close enough to fit this much into the frame. ......      Honorable - The Round Tree In the autumn I was out one morning taking fog pictures when I found this almost perfectly round tree. Some of the leaves were already fallen, but you can still make out the shape. I removed the background in ps because it was too busy, and not a complimentary color for this bloom. I hope you enjoy it. ......      Honorable - Just Flying Over Caught this newsbee (that's what we have always called them, I'm unaware of their official name) flying over a water lily. Made a nice photo, although I was some great distance away, so didn't get great close-up, I like the contrasting colors. This was taken in the early morning light, without a flash, and dew still present. Some of the last of the year photos taken this fall j ......      Honorable - Socked In When roaming the countryside on a foggy autumn day, I came upon many foggy, soggy webs. Here is one with the owner "soaked-in". PLEASE VIEW IN LARGER SIZE. ......      Honorable - Cosmos This blossom would stand out on ANY color of background, even the absence of color! Taken on an overcast morning, windy day. ......      Honorable - Colorful Center A white cosmos with a brillant center. Taken on an overcast morning, windy, and threatening rain. This is one of a field of these lovely flowers. ......      Honorable - Regal Magnolia To me one of the most interestening blossom is the magnolia tree. They are so large, and thick, are almost like a living sculpture. I was lucky to find this one blooming in June. Taken in bright sun, on the shady side of the tree! ......      Honorable - Single Daisy Was only able to catch part of the blue sky with this single daisy. Taken early morning, natural light. ......      Honorable - White Lily Center The very center of the white lily has some interestening details. Natural outside light, photo heavily cropped and lightened in ps. LARGER IMAGE SHARPER ......      Honorable - Tiger Dragon This fellow was so colorful he reminded us of a tiger in color! Cropped, and slightly sharpened in ps. LARGER IMAGE MUCH NICER! ......      Honorable - Standing Tall Since this blossom was mostly black and white, I converted it in ps. Cropped and framed. Taken inside a greenhouse about a month ago. I'm not sure of the name of this plant, but it's quite attractive. ......      Honorable - CENTER The center of a columbine, with sun shining on just the center and the rest of plant in shade. Outside shot, from flower bed. Photo cropped and framed. I used a black postor board for back drop. ......      Honorable - Just Crawling Around Caught this fellow crawling on a wooden table on the porch. He kept moving so was difficult to obtain a good shot. Also was an overcast day. I changed the contrast, used a blur at top and made some selective use of levels in ps. IS SHARPER IN LAR ......      Honorable - Wish for a Bright Future Together Even tho the day was cloudy and stormy, may this couple find that dreams do come true for their marriage. ......      Honorable - Just A Bud Magnolia bud, photo taken last spring as they haven't started to develop yet this year....reminds one that sping is just around the corner!
